High Fructose Corn Syrup – How Bad Is It For You?

High fructose corn syrup is bad for everyone because this manmade sugar which has been around for about 40 years has created an epidemic of health problems in the United States of America such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. There is nothing good about high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup is a manmade sugar derived from corn. High fructose corn syrup was created to be added to many of the foods we eat because it is cheaper than cane sugar. Americans are addicted to high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup should be regulated by the government like tobacco and alcohol since in large quantities; high fructose corn syrup can become toxic and contribute to some major fatal conditions such as cardiovascular disease and even cancer. When looking at the ingredients in many of the foods we eat high fructose corn syrup is not the only sugar found in processed foods. Processed foods do not only contain high fructose corn syrup but also, high amounts of sodium and MSG and none of this is good for our bodies. Many processed foods that do not normally contain sugar have high fructose corn syrup such as crackers, peanut butter and jelly and grilled cheese sandwiches. Sugar in normal doses is sweet enough so why would we want high fructose corn syrup on top of table sugar is nothing but added empty calories. High fructose is normally added on top of other sugars in processed food and in juices.

Sugar addicts enjoy the extra sweetness from high fructose corn syrup in their soda, cereal and candy. If you like the added sweetness of high fructose corn syrup in foods than you will continue to take in the extra empty calories from table sugar alone but high fructose corn syrup is added on top of that.
