What is hero? Hero can mean many things and can be anybody depending on how people plan to look at it. In ancient Greek the concept of a hero is different from our own cultures. In ancient Greek hero is a religious figure, a dead person who received cult honors. In literature years ago they define hero as a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability. However, in some literatures that have been written during the nineteenth and the twentieth century focuses on hero’s who stand up for what they believe in and not a worrier fighting in a war. Also in today’s literature they write about hero's lives and how they undergo some sort of ordeal .Today in our society we consider a hero a person who we admire or idolize. For instance, we consider our heroes to be, our parents, celebrities, athletes and teachers because these people made some kind of impact on our lives in some kind of way. They way that he we interrupt the word hero today doesn’t really fit the actual definition of hero that they used thousands of years ago. There are several definitions for the meaning of hero. Hero is someone people admire for their achievements and qualities. A hero is one who shows great courage in something that they are devoted to. A hero is also someone who cares about others without seeking any type of attention for doing something heroic? Hero is also someone who is a worrier. For instance, someone that applies for the Navy, Army, or the Air Force to service our country is considering a real hero because their fighting for something they believe in they are not looking for any publicity but they are doing it from within. However in literature twelve hundred years ago gives people who are actually consider heroes than how they are portrayed today. Hero in literature goes back thousand years ago.
