Herbert Clark Hoover
Herbert Clark Hoover who was the 31th president of united states. He was born in west branch on August 10, 1874. Hoover lost his parents before he turned to be 9 years, so his uncle took care of him. He grew up in Oregon and eventually graduated from Stanford University as a mining engineer. In 1899, he married with Lou Henry, and they went to China where he worked as the leading engineer for the country. He succeeded in mining industry with the result that he came to be millionaire.
He achieved American and international prominence in humanitarian relief efforts and served as head of the U.S. Food Administration before and during World War I. His political affiliations were still too indeterminate for him to be mentioned as a possibility for either the Republican or Democratic nomination in 1920, but after the election he served Harding and Coolidge as secretary of commerce. In the presidential election of 1928, Hoover easily won the Republican nomination, despite having no elected-office experience. Hoover was the most recent cabinet secretary to be elected President of the United States.
After Herbert Clark Hoover was elected president, most of America citizens were expected about him. People believed Hoover would easily solved the problems which were economic and unemployment problems that john Calvin Coolidge did not make the solution. In 1929 on the president's inaugural address, he said "a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage!" In other words, every people will be rich enough and get some jobs. New York times and other medias extolled him that he is versatile and reliable person as a good leader. However, With the continually worsening conditions, and the stock market crash on Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, the United States was thrown into the biggest economical disaster.
