Help is Needed in Our Education System
People have their own opinion on how the education system is run, but I strongly believe that there is room for a lot of improvement in this line of work. I have been through years of public and charter schools and I have volunteered at a special education school, and I can honestly tell you they need a lot of change to be able to function properly. First, we need to get rid of the tenure title I have experienced so much over the years which created my belief and which has made my belief strong. Young children will be more prepared for life experiences if we had a better education system, but right now it is stuck in a position where change is not an option. Parents play a big role in their children’s education and they decide which schools to send their kids to try to give them the best education they hope their children can receive. A lot of parents want their kids to go to a charter school, because they think it is a better option than sending their kids to a public school. They think public schools are just a waste of time and getting into a charter school would better prepare their child for college and the real world. Truth is, charter schools are scarce and it is very hard to be accepted to these schools, people get waitlisted or they have to have their name picked out of a hat, and those who do not get accepted are turned away and are forced to attend public school until they can find a better source of education. Teacher tenure is “a policy that restricts the ability to fire teachers, requiring a ‘just cause’ rationale for firing,” meaning these teachers cannot be fired or be denied a job in the teaching field. There procedures do not need to meet the criteria of the course being taught and some teachers cheat the system just to get a pay check.
