Heat exhaustion: This condition often occurs when people exercise in a hot, humid place and body fluids are lost through sweating, causing dehydration and overheating of the body. Symptoms: Pale with cool, moist skin, sweating profusely, Muscle cramps or pains, Feels faint or dizzy, May complain of headache, weakness, thirst, and nausea. Core temperature more than 100 F (37.7 C) and the pulse rate increased. Go to hospital: Loss of consciousness, confusion, or delirium, chest or abdominal pain, Inability to drink fluids, Continuous vomiting, Temperature more than 104 F. Temperature that is rising despite cooling the person, serious ongoing medical problems Mild cases: Rest in a cool, shaded area, Give cool fluids such as water or sports drinks for dehydration, Salty snacks, Loosen or remove clothing, Apply cool water to skin.
Heat stroke: The person's cooling system, controlled by the brain, stops working and the internal body temperature rises to the point at which brain damage or damage to other internal organs may result (temperature may reach 105 F or greater [40.5 C or greater]).
