When it comes to the delivery and running of our current healthcare system there are four necessary components that must be present.   These components range from relatively low levels of technology, personal to complex events that require high and intense levels of personal and equipment (Williams & Torrens, 2008, p.15).   The four basic components are financing, insurance delivery and payment.   Along with these components, there are different sub-categories that go along with them.
Healthcare services of any type can be very expensive and this is where financing comes into play.   Financing can come from a patients family, the patient themselves, insurance companies or event government programs.   Some of these programs might include benefits from the patient’s employer or government agencies such as Medicare and Medicaid.   They can even be self pay if no other financing is available.   For the health network that I work for a self paying patient office call can range from $62-$130 a visit.
Insurance is extremely important in helping the patient and is very closely related to the financing component.   When a patient has access to insurance, this helps protects them against any major risks that might arise during their visit to the doctor.   Although when insurance is not available a individual may not have access to medical care because of a lack of insurance which will cause waits and even delays in obtaining an appointment or even care (Williams & Torrens, 2008, p. 17).
Next comes the delivery part of the medical services.   These medical providers can range from physicians, optometrists, dentists to personal in specialized clinics.   There are a few occasions where individuals may have to travel away from their own town if they wish to obtain specialized treatment that is not available in their area (Williams & Torrens, 2008, p. 17).
