There are many factors that could affect communication, and they could be both positive and negative. There are physical factors which are:
Noise is important because it impairs your hearing, and the message cannot be received by a person. •Environment can also set the mood in the atmosphere, whether a private environment or an intimacy environment. •Space having enough space between the people you are talking to is important as you don’t want to be too close to them as this would make them feel uncomfortable and you don’t want to be too far away as this shows your trying to avoid them. Some people find that if you are too close they find it uncomfortable and they tend to step backwards while you are talking. While some other cultures are generally always so close to you and they find this very normal and don’t realise they are very close to you, so depending on cultures also depends on the space. •Temperature, having the right temperature can affect the communication, if the temperature is too cold then you won’t be talking much, whereas if the temperature is too hot then you definitely won’t be talking as the temperature will disturb you and your communication will stop. •Lighting can affect communication because it creates the mood, for example if the lights are dim and there’s a couple talking, this creates an intimacy mood. •Accents are a big effect to communication, if the service user has an accent and the care worker cannot understand them at all then that is very serious because there will be a barrier to the communication and they will find it very hard to see what the service user may want. •Tone of voice must be either soft, slightly loud if service users cannot hear and clear, you must annunciate your speech. •Seating arrangement will definitely create good communication or not, because where you sit is important, for example if you are a couple at a restaurant the proper way to sit would be opposite them on a small table so that you have...
