CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Health is very important to every living organism in this world especially to humans. Any access or scarcity that will happen into our body can alter body’s homeostasis and if not checked, it will lead to tissue breakdown and finally disease. Lifestyle largely determines our health and the diseases from which we will suffer and from which we will eventually die. People who are smoking, drinking alcohol, abuse drugs, taking food that is out of diet, and engage in many life activities can bring on stress, fatigue and illness. A disease is an abnormal condition affecting the body of an organism. It is often construed to be a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs. It may be caused by external factors, such as infectious disease. In humans, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, and deviant behaviors. Diseases usually affect people not only physically, but also emotionally, as contracting and living with many diseases can alter one's perspective on life, and their personality. With so many ailments that human and family are facing today, the Family Health Nursing is designed to help and aid these problems. Nurses’ skills and interventions will serve as a guide to the family for them to be aware of the factors that can alter to their health. Through these teachings and guidance, the family in the end can manage their health independently, efficiently and effectively The researchers of this study was assigned in Phase 2, Barangay Balubad Nangka, Marikina City and focused of Zamora Family. They observed that they have lots of problem regarding to their family, home environment, and health. But aside from all these concerns, the researchers believed that every members of the family should be given an attention and guided them using nursing techniques and strategy towards good health.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

* General Objective:
* To gather information in the family about the present condition to control problems in order to achieve health and well-being among its members.

* Specific Objectives:
* To identify the possible and existing health problems of the family and classify them as wellness state, health threat, health deficit and foreseeable crisis. * To teach the family members to their responsibility on maintaining health and achieving it through proper ways and techniques. * To impart our knowledge and skills regarding health education for the better lifestyle of the community.

METHODOLOGY

The student nurses started select one family to be interviewed. This was held on July 10, 2012 in the morning. This is done to get information such as general and other relevant data, family planning method, and maternal child health information. As the researchers continue the interview with the family, they observed each family member if healthy or unhealthy as well as the environment that surrounds them which contributes or increases the risk of acquiring some diseases.

* Reflex Hammer
* Camera
* Survey tool
* CHN Bag
* Cotton Applicator
* Clean gloves
* Cotton balls (wet and dry)
* Soap

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

The study conducted, covered the general and other relevant information about the family, the discussion and details about the problem and health risk regarding their health and documentation of data. The study focused on Zamora Family, out of fifty (50) randomly selected the families in Balubad Street, Phase 2, Barangay Nangka Marikina City....
