The Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings in the world. The Mona Lisa is also known as la Gioconda, La Joconde, or portrait of Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giocondo (Jules). She appears to be calm. With her folded hands and glowing face she appears to be smiling. The famous portrait was painted by the Italian Leonardo da Vinci.
