1. Introduction

Employees First' is an employee focused program that gives people whatever they need to succeed - be it space to grow, time to think or tools to use. It is about maximizing personal potential rather than monitoring professional performance. A unique philosophy that challenges the well-established norms of employee satisfaction and retention is the ‘Employee First’ program of HCL. 2. Motivation

In today’s competitive economy, the need of the hour is not just to retain the human capital, but also to continuously reinvent ways to motivate and enhance the existing talent pool. This pertinent need is being felt by companies across the globe, prompting them to focus on creating a conducive working environment to foster employer-employee relations. Researching upon the different aspects of organizational behaviour, we were intrigued by the specifics of this program and we intend to research further to obtain and share underlying facts and decision drivers with the class at large. 3. HCL Enterprise

The globally known HCL Enterprise operates through two publicly listed companies. HCL Technologies focuses on global markets and is more service oriented in nature. HCL Infosystems on the other hand focuses at catering to hardware needs of the domestic market. Falling under the corporate umbrella of HCL Enterprise, the two businesses generate a combined annual 2011 revenues of US$ 6 billion. HCL Technologies is a $4.2 billion global company which brings IT and engineering services and consulting expertise under one roof to solve complex business problems for its clients. It is one of the seven out of 3000 technology companies registered in Bloomberg database with revenue of more than $2.5 billion, a market capitalization of more than $5 billion, and a compounded annual growth rate greater than 25 per cent during the past five years. HCL Technologies is fourth largest IT Company in India and is ranked 48 in the global list of IT services providers. It was founded by Shiv Nadar who is the chairman and the CSO with its headquarters in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Vineet Nayar is the Vice Chairman and the CEO. HCL Technologies provides services across the following business lines - * Engineering and R&D Services (ERS) - offering services in Hardware, Embedded, Mechanical and Software Product Engineering. * Enterprise Transformation Services (ETS) - offering services in the areas of Independent Verification and Validation, Process Transformation, Data Management, Integration Services, Architecture Services, Disruptive Technology Services, IT Strategy, and Change Management. * Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) - division of HCL Technologies Limited has delivery offices across India, UK and USA. * Enterprise Application Services (EAS) - focuses on areas like in ERP, SCM, CRM, HCM, EPM, BI and Middleware. This group is now part of HCL AXON, subsidiary of HCL Technologies, formed after HCL Tech acquired Axon Group plc for £440m cash offer in 2008. * IT Infrastructure Management Services (ISD) - Well known as HCL Comnet Systems and Services is subdivision of HCL Technologies formed in 1999 offering services such as End User Computing, Datacenter Transformation, Network Services, Information Security Services, Integrated Operations Management, Cross functional services, Mainframe and AS/400 and System Integration.ISD is considered to be a fastest growing line of business.
