Seven Organizational Approaches
A. Use the matrix below to describe each approach to organizing information about the body. Discuss how each approach can be used.
Approach | Describe the approach | How might the approach be used? |
Body planes and directions | The body planes and directions approach is the division of the body into sections from front to back, right and left, and top and bottom by the use of the midsagittal plane, the coronal plane, and the transverse plane. Along with the movement away from or towards these planes. | This approach might be used when studying a certain organs and its surrounding functions or specific areas within the body such as the lungs, brain, or joints and tendons. |
Body cavities | The body cavity approach is the study of the body cavities and the organs inside them. | This approach may be used when studying a specific organ within the body such as the brain. As well as how a disease is affecting a number of different organs within the human body. |
Quadrant and regions | The quadrant and regions approach is the division of the lower torso area into four quadrants or nine region sections which internal organs are place. | This approach would be a good approach to use as a reference when conducting a physical examination of the organs. |
Anatomy and physiology | The anatomy and physiology approach is the study of the structures of the human body and the study of the function and workings of those structures. | The anatomy and physiology approach would be a good one to use if one wanted to study the structure and workings of a cell or the human nervous system. |
Microscopic-to-macroscopic | The microscopic-to-macroscopic approach is the study of the bodies smallest parts and how they come together to make larger and more complex structures and systems. | The microscopic-to-macroscopic approach would be a good one to use when studying how cells combine to form tissues or...
