Why do we need math?
Because it puts us on a narrow path.
Even though it sometimes makes you swell up in wrath.
To most,
Math just causes you stress,
But thats not the case.
Its a workers base,
Math is in every place.
Math doesn't have a realistic face,
But when it is used,
It leaves a remarkable trace!

The Mystery Number
If you don't know all the numbers
When you write an expression,
A letter can stand for the missing information. The variable-it's the mystery number.
Nine dogs in the waiting room at the vet's.
You know some information: (Nine!)
But in through the door come some cats.
(Meow!)
How many cats? That's the variable-c for cats. So how can you write the number of pets
In the waiting room now?
It's nine plus c,
Because you don't know the value of cHow many cats?
Chorus
c is the unknown, unknown;
It's the missing information, the variable.
It's the mystery number.
If you don't know all the numbers
When you write an expression,
A letter can stand for the missing informationThe variable! It's the variable!
But if you know the values of the other numbers, You can find the value of the variable.
Use a letter to stand for it in your equation,
And then do the math to find the information. Dr. Boggs has eighteen treats. (Sit, Rover!)
He gives the treats to some dogs. (Woof!)
Each dog gets two treats, with none left over. You know some information:
Eighteen treats, two treats each.
But how many dogs?

That's the variable, d for dogs.
You can do the math and it works out fine.
18 divided by 2 equals d,
So how many dogs get treats? (Nine.)
Chorus
d is the unknown, unknown;
It's the missing information, the variable.
It's the mystery number.
If you don't know all the numbers
When you write an equation,
A letter can stand for the missing informationThe variable!
It's the unknown, unknown,
It's the missing information, the variable.
It's the mystery number.
The variable!
Mystery number.

Conjunctions (Fireworks)
Do you ever feel
Like your so confused
You’ve got two separate thoughts
And don’t know what to do
And these separate thoughts
You hope you can combine
If they were put together
Then they would sound just right
Do you ever feel
That your words need to link
There has to be some way
So just step back relax and think
Do you know that theres
A way to do all this
Its not hard to do
You just gotta apply your mind
And things will be fine
Just find a way to make things combine
Conjunctions will connect your words
You don’t have to be a nerd
To know words like so, but and for
You could even use and yet and or
Now you’ve got some words
Or a phrase or two
You wanna hook them up
Conjunctions will help you
Just choose the right connector
Like and, but or nor
Show your sentences
What you have in store
He wasn’t ready yet
But he thought he was
The conjunction in that sentence
Would be but because
It takes two clauses and
Puts them together so
Its not hard to do

You just gotta apply your mind
And things will be fine
Just find a way to make things combine
Conjunctions will connect your words
You don’t have to be a nerd
To know words like so, but and for
You could even use and yet and or
Conjunctions will connect your words
You don’t have to be a nerd

"It's My Life"- Bon Jovi
This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
[Chorus:]
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life
This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down Tomorrow's getting harder make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky
Got to make your own breaks
[Chorus:]
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life
Better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down [Chorus:]
It's my life
And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever

I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
[Chorus:]
It's my life
And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said

Blowin in the Wind – Bob Dylan
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind
How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind

The purpose of Stephanie Hanes’s “Little Girls or Little Women? The Disney Princess Effect” is to bring awareness to the problem of increasing sexualization of little girls. While this trend is widely noted in the media and consumer market, it is a growing concern for parents and early childhood specialists, as it is taking a toll on the girls’ mental and emotional development. It starts when girls are young and goes unnoticed, but this trajectory eventually becomes evident. Stephanie Hanes is a freelance journalist who has written many U.S. publications. This article first appeared in the Christian Science Monitor where parents of little girls are her intended audience. Hanes not only presented to them the problem but also solutions to this ongoing predisposition. Hanes succeeds at proving her argument through providing anecdotes that appeal to her audience emotionally, logically, and ethically.…
