Now days, Children spend more time watching TV than they do in the classroom. We could see that the entertainment media plays an extremely powerful role to our society. Are they appropriate for kids to watch programs with negative effect like violence, drinking, teen-pregnant, and stealing and etc? As a Media Art – TV production major student in Robert Morris University. I care if our “knowledge” is “polluting” and bringing negative effect to our society. This has also makes me wonder “Has the development of media spoiled and generally ill-mannered generation of children?”

The article of “Understanding media's role in childhood development” said “Children spend more time with media than any other activity, except for sleeping.” Since children spend many hours a day with media. The potentially negative consequences of children’s media consumption receive a lot of attention”. ("Media's impact on," 2011) From what I understand through this article; kids no longer cares about people or thing they should do. They are no longer innocent anymore. I’ve observed, people these days, partying, drinking underage, doing drugs, getting pregnant at 16, and etc. Yes, these results must be condemned; however, through this article we still couldn’t strongly explain that media glorified them.

Everything that children see or hear in the media in their lives affects them in some way. Those who view media violence are more likely to increased feelings of hostility, and decreased emotional response to the portrayal of violence. This might lead to the violent behavior.
