The Gungahlin Region is located in the northern part of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and is approximately 15km from the Central Business District (CBD) of Canberra, and 10km from the closest "satellite" city - Belconnen The population of the Gungahlin Statistical Subdivision continues to rise and, according to the ‘Regional Population Growth, Australia, 2007-08’ report (issued last week by the Australian Bureau of Statistics), reached almost 38,000 on 30 June 2008. This was up 2,900 people on the population a year earlier.
