Guns have been apart of the American culture ever since our ancestors first stepped foot on to this land. The firearm was a means of life; with out it there was no food or protection from the native inhabitants. But times have changed now, criminals use firearms to disrupt society and harm anyone that gets in the way. Survival is no longer the means for a weapon just to make monetary gain. Our society is now faced with the removal of the second amendment because of bad individuals.
With all the freedoms America provides its citizens there is bound to be a higher crime rate then other countries. If we based our laws like other nations, our entire constitution and way of life would have never been achieved. If we start banning firearms it is just going to take away from the law-abiding citizens. This country already tried to ban alcohol and that just gave criminals more to profit from. If the same action happens against firearms the government is going to loose out on thousands of dollars every year. With out firearms the government can’t issue hunting licenses or collect taxes on ammo or gun purchases. This will all come back and hit the taxes payers when our government is looking for money.
It is not that easy to go buy a firearm right off the shelf, there is a complete back round check done. This makes it impossible for convicted criminals to get their hands on a weapon and cause any more harm. This does not mean the system is perfect; there is still room for mistakes with under the table deals and stealing. All systems have minute flaws but we are overlooking one major fact: “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” If the right to bare arms is taken away, people will find a way to commit the same violent act. Adults like to blame objects for the problem rather then facing the fact that people are the real problem.
