Topic Proposal
A salient issue of controversy is gun control. Gun control is the regulation of sales and uses of firearms. Firearms include handguns, rifles, and shotguns.40% of all United State homes have guns. As of 2010, 300 million people in the United States own a firearm. There are different laws regarding the right-to-carry. 40 states have the “shall issue” which means carry permits are issued to all qualified citizens. Nine states have the “may issue” which means a person need to present a reason to carry a firearm. Illinois is the only state that has the “no issue” which means concealed carry is forbidden. A feminist in today’s society would definitely be for gun control. The theory behind this is that if there is more gun control then violent crimes, like rape, against women will decrease. Feminist have mentioned that guns play a small role in the violence against women. Feminist would say that women are in most need to be handling a gun for self-defense. Most feminists discourage gun ownership. A political theory commonly used in gun control is liberalism. I think that a very good solution to gun control would be that there should be a background check on a person before they can purchase a gun. That way if a person has a criminal background they will not be able to purchase a gun.
I think that gun control is a huge issue and should be addressed. There is a lot of bad that comes from owning and using a gun but there is also a lot of good. Guns are used for good and bad. Guns are good if they are used for hunting and self-defense. Guns are also bad because in the wrong hands a lot of people can and will die. For example, look at the Connecticut shooting that just occurred. 28 people we shot and killed in that school. I think that the good will out weight the bad results of gun control. We just need to be more careful and take more

Gun control can be looked at from many different viewpoints from many different people. Some people believe that all crime will be stopped while others think it will only increase. This argument over whether gun control laws should be strict is nothing new to the world of politics. The ideas of gun control consist of laws that either keep away firearms from people, or allow one to keep guns for personal protection. They also control who the guns are being sold to and who can own them. In America, each state government has passed many gun control laws. Many people think that gun control is right because they think keeping people away from guns will reduce the amount of deaths each year. They also think that guns cause many of the deaths that had been committed each year. Whenever people hear the word gun, the thoughts…

Gun control is a controversial and divisive issue in our routine life, not only in the United States, but also all over the world. Basically, gun control refers to governmental efforts to limit or restrict the production, sale, possession and use of guns by private citizens. Some people believe that it is necessary that federal and state laws allow citizens to purchase and possess guns, or even actively require adult citizens to maintain weapons in their house, and periodically to train in their use. However, others think gun control is indispensable in our society because gunshots are the main cause of death in the United States. As for me, I prefer to support the second view because guns are lethal and the fewer people that have them the better. The only function of a gun is to kill. The more instruments of death are removed from our society, the safer we will be. With my research, I found a lot of striking data about guns menacing people’s lives. There should be gun control in the United States because guns are a menace to people’s lives.…

Gun control is a real issue with Americans today. Many people have different opinions about how to handle our growing dilemma concerning guns. There are those who believe we should ban guns altogether and those who believe we should not ban or restrict the people's right to own guns at all. Both sides have valid arguments, but neither side seems to know how to compromise because of their very different opinions. I personally believe guns should be banned. However, those against gun control have very good arguments.…

The issue of gun control continues to remain a controversy. A large number of citizens believe that if gun acts are strictly enforced, that violence and the threat of crime will reduce within neighborhoods. On the other hand, a large amount of society feels that they deserve to bear arms, whether used for hunting, or as self-defense tools. If guns become strictly enforced than those whom like hunting are penalized for wanting to take part in a sport. Everyone should have the freedom to legally purchase and own a gun. Enforcing a nationwide gun policy violates the second amendment rights and will cause problems within the government.…

A definition of gun control has different meanings to different people. A general statement is it is designed to restrict or limit the possession, production, importation, shipment, sale, and/or use of firearms (Wikipedia). There are many options including Assault rifle bans, large magazine clips ban, and criminal background checks. To a liberal who fears lifeless objects as being evil, it means walking on the bill of rights to assuage their fears, and avoiding or at least hampering the people, in their ability to lawfully keep and bear arms. To a person who believes in the right to keep and bear arms, it means a sharp eye, a steady hand. To a potential criminal it means it will be harder for them to purchase a gun legally. Whichever choice you choose it still affects the second amendment. The second ammendment is, a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed upon. I think gun control should be limited to prevent felons from obtaining and better tracking of guns. But I think that every American that is not a felon should be able to carry a weapon and defend them. John Adams recognizes the fundamental right of citizens, as individuals, to defend themselves with arms, however he states militias must be controlled by government and the rule of law. To have otherwise is to invite anarchy (2008 Lillian Goldman Law Library).…

All guns have the potential to be dangerous and should be dealt with precaution. Guns have been a part of American history for as long as people can remember. For most individuals guns are supposed to be very dangerous and unsafe. Though, that is not true. Guns can be hazardous, but only if they are in the wrong hands. Owning a gun is a right that every American should take pride in having. Guns are used for self-protection, hunting, law enforcement and other practices. The right to own a gun is secured by the 2nd constitutional amendment. So, prohibition of guns from being owned or bought is immoral and unconstitutional. Gun control in the United States should be eliminated.…

One of the biggest controversial topics in America today is Gun Control, whether we should or should not have gun control. The Government claims that if they take the guns away, that there will be a drop in deaths and crimes. The Second Amendment state that every citizen of the United States of America has a right to bare arms(ProCon#1). The Gun Control Law will take away that right completely, along with some of our freedom. The second amendment states “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” To an average person this means that anyone at anytime should be able to possess a gun without being questioned. However, if you interpret the amendment based on vocabulary I believe this means that a trained group of people who have the countries best interest at hand to protect are the one protected under the constitution. Today there is a lot of debate about control and whether or not people should be aloud to have guns.…

Gun Control is when you keep firearms of any type, including handguns, High power rifles and even low caliber hunting rifles such as a .22 long rifle away from people. Many people think that gun control is the right way to go because they think keeping guns away from people will lower the death rate of people by guns. Also, just whenever people hear the word gun, the thoughts of violence and negativity pop into the heads of many people, myself included, think gun control is wrong because we know that it is not necessary, since we know that guns were not involved in a large percentage of deaths caused each year. While many other people disagree and think that a law will keep guns out of people's hands and keep them safer. All laws do is keep…

Many people encounter a time in there life where they are threatened, afraid, and should have that comfort of a gun. For example right now pro life is a huge discussion in the world, and rapes and sexual have a lot to deal with this issue. According to TheWellArmedWoman.com, “ There were 248,300 rapes/sexual assaults in the United States in 2007, more than 500 per day, up from 190,600 in 2005. Women were more likely than men to be victims…” This statistic is out the roof and quite disturbing, and if more women were carrying some form of self defense, there would be much less sexual assaults in the United States. There's no true proof of whether it would drop or not but we have considered only some of homes own a gun. I feel as if we more people owned guns such as the women who are victims of these horrible actions would be much more protected in dangerous situation. So talking this privilege of owning a guy for protection away, makes people feel much more endangered in the comfort of the own home. If you're responsible, and have basic gun safety you should never feel that uncomfort.…
