Gun control has been a long debated issue amongst people. I chose to research the pros and cons of laws already in place. Firearms are grouped into three different categories: Handguns, Rifles, and Shotguns. Under federal law it is illegal to be given, obtain, or move any firearm or ammunition for people who have been “convicted of or under indictment for a felony punishable by more than one year in prison, someone convicted of a misdemeanor punishable by more than two years in prison, a fugitive from justice, an unlawful user of any controlled substance, someone who has been ruled as mentally defective or has been committed to any mental institution, an illegal alien, someone dishonorably discharged from the military, someone who has renounced his or her U.S. citizenship, someone subject to certain restraining orders, or someone convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor” (justfacts.com). I personally do not see a con in this because only law enforcement or armored truck drivers should be able to carry their hand guns across state lines. It is more dangerous for people to be able to carry them wherever they choose. It is also a lot harder to keep track of. These are just a few of the policies in place for people to have ownership of guns.
There were some statistics that I had found concerning the public opinion on certain gun policies. As I was reading the list, I was pretty amazed by the results such as the answer to the question of what is Public Opinion on Gun Control. 50% said that it is more important to control gun ownership where as...
