Groups and Teams paper
      In life people experience working together in groups and in teams from the time he or she is a child to being an adult working with people at the workplace. When he or she is a child and is in swim team or soccer, he or she has to participate in working together with other children as a team or group. Group or team dynamics is crucial in today’s work environment; more and more organizations acquire co-workers to work in groups. This paper will explain the differences between group and a team. This paper will examine the importance of workplace diversity in an organization, and how it relates to team dynamics in the workplace. It is important to understand groups and teams because in the future everyone will experience working with various people as a group or as a team.
      Groups and Teams
      A group is defined as two or more individuals, interacting and interdependent, who have come together to achieve particular objectives (Judge & Robbins, 2009). Groups are either formal or informal. Formal groups are defined by an organization’s structure and informal groups are not formally structured or organizationally determined. The different types of groups are a command group, task group, interest group, and friendship group. A command group is decided by an organizations chart. A command group is composed of the individuals who report directly to a given manager (Judge & Robbins, 2009). Organizations also determine task groups. A task group consists of individuals who work together to complete a common job task.   According to Judge and Robbins (2009), people who may or may not be aligned into common command or task groups may affiliate to attain a specific objective with which each is concerned, this is an interest group.
