2nd Chances is a nonprofit agency that will provide housing, education, employment, training and sobriety tools to women who are homeless( due to mental health, domestic violence or substance abuse), transitioning from incarceration to becoming productive citizens in the Baltimore, MD area. It is the goal of 2nd Chances to form partnerships with local government, Department of Social Services, Maryland State Department of Corrections and Court System and Maryland State Pardon of Paroles and the private sector. 2nd Chances is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of homeless woman and recent parolees whose needs are not being met by the current legal and/or mental health transitional process. The goal of the program is to transform residents by directing and equipping them with the resources to be self-sufficent in obtaining permanent housing, education and secure viable employment. The focus is to empower women to become educated, employable and financially responsible women who are positive contributors to their community. 2nd Chances will create a positive learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to women and encourage them to be mentors in assisting those women that still struggle that there is a ‘better way’. 2nd Chances also will welcome women from the community to mentor to the clients as well. OBJECTIVES
