A study shows that to meet transportation needs for the United States in 2050, local biofuel production would require “500 million acres of U.S. land—more than the total of current U.S. cropland.” (Source D) America needs to work on bettering our economy for the future, and by creating tools, systems, energy sources, and ethics will do so. (Source C) By allowing our planet to grow in a healthier, cleaner, and natural way, we will overcome global warming and it will be easier for us all to take care of our planet. Helping to keep our planet clean such as using less water in homes, recycling paper products, glass, aluminum, and oil, and also avoiding certain harmful products can result in lowering our man-made greenhouse gases. “According to the Energy Information Administration, the United States, China, Russia, Japan, and India together account for 54% of the world’s total carbon dioxide emissions.” (Source E) Since this represents the largest share of man-made greenhouse gases, we all should try these simple tasks to help our economy, and altogether our planet. Another issue that comes into play is oil consumption. “Transportation accounts for 67% of all U.S. oil consumption” (Source F), which is well over half of the total consumed oil. To save money and your gasoline, everyone who drives should drive sensibly. Things such as speeding, braking, and rapid acceleration wastes gasoline. Each year, electricity generated by fossil fuels for a single home puts more CO2 (carbon dioxide) into the air than the average cars. (Source F) There are many ways to save energy, electricity, and your money. “Typically, if fossil fuel prices rise, consumers quickly use less and new supplies of ‘clean energy’ magically materialize.” (Source D) For this to actually happen in reality would be wonderful and help everyone out overall, but it is not realistic.
