A knock sounded at the door and Maria went to go answer it. “Miss Darcy, there is someone at the door for you. Shall I let them in?” she sounded through the doorway. “Yeah, just hold on a minute. I'll be there right now.” I walked to the door to be greeted by my best friend, Doniya. She squealed and said, “There's going to be a new kid at Parkman High!” she whispered, “And the word on the street is he's totally hot!” I laughed at her sudden outburst and said, “It's going to be okay, Niya. Calm down. But can you come with me to drop Cole off at school?” I pleaded with puppy dog eyes. Knowing Doniya, she would do anything for me. She groaned, “Ugh! Fine!” We went out through the door, me getting my keys on the way out. On my 16th birthday, my parents got me a 1965 Ford Mustang and man, she was a beauty. She still is. Pearl was the best gift I've ever gotten. “Okay kiddo, we're here now. Good luck in 5th grade.
