Project Title: Green Computing Research Project
Project Start Date:03.20.2012Projected Finish Date: 09.20.2012

Budget Information: The firm has allocated $500,000 for this project. The majority of costs for this project will be internal labor. Five full-time employees will be dedicated to complete this project. Also, some of the costs will be external consultant’s advice, books and articles.

Project Manager: John Smith, 416-222-2222, Project Objectives: The main purpose of the Green Computing Research Project is to research possible applications of green computing technologies including “Data Center and overall energy efficiency”, “the disposal of electronic waste and recycling”, “Telecommuting”, “Virtualization of Server resources”, “Thin client solutions”, “Use of open source software” and the development of new software to address green computing for internal use and potential sale to other organizations.

Main Project Success Criteria: With a budget of 500,000 and within six months to provide an extensive report, including detailed financial analysis and recommendations on what green computing technologies to implement.

* Select the project team as soon as possible. Hold special interviews to hand-pick the project manager. The priority will have people already working in the company then those from outside but who can start quickly. * Allow people to work virtually if those are located far from each other. * Ensure that the project manager will also do the needed research, writing, editing and other administrative tasks. * Look for and be open to pay for expert advice and needed books or articles
