Aesthetics is the theory of taste. The question this theory purposes; is there good or bad taste, or is taste indisputable? In society, what constitutes as good or bad are created by the peoples values and morals in that particular society.  Therefore, I believe good or bad is a matter of opinion. The way that a person views something, especially art depends upon their definition of good and bad. In other words, art is in the eye of the beholder. Bendetto Croce offers the most insight on the theory of Aesthetics. He describes not only the art, but the artist and the affect the art has on the person viewing it. A critics view of this work of art also allows for their interpretation and even a new work of art.

Epistemology is the theory of knowledge. Knowledge is what we know and how we know it. The mind is a complex thing which consists of many parts, but most knowledge I believe, is gained through experience. For example, scientists perform experiments to test a theory and they get a result which they obtain knowledge from. Auguste Comte offers plausibility with his notion of “branches of knowledge”. He exemplifies the complexity of the brain and the knowledge it obtains by developing a law of human intelligence where each branch of knowledge passes through stages in the brain.

Ethics is the theory of obligation. Are we primarily obligated to ourselves or to others. We should always stay true to ourselves and what we believe is morally right or wrong, but as human being we are influenced by others. John Stuart Mills simplicity in his thoughts about ethics and human desire are all generally similar. Some peoples happiness and or desires are based on that of others. Roberts Nozicks proposals on humans and their rights have an array of assumptions that don’t seem to pertain to ethics and the questions the theory purposes.
