Gravity
Gravity is the force that keeps objects close to the earth
Not only does gravity keep objects close to the earth it also keeps the solar system revolving the sun
Gravity was discovered by Isaac Newton
Acceleration of objects that is due to gravity on Earth is 9.8 m/s

Also, according to Mr. Newton’s First Law, once the egg was moving, it didn’t want to stop. The container of water interrupted the egg’s fall, providing a safe place for the egg to stop moving so you could recover it unbroken.

According to Newton's First Law (Inertia), once the egg is moving it doesn't stop. The water interrupts the eggs fall and it goes into the cup.

Isaac Newton said that since the egg is not moving while it sits on top of the tube, that is what it is going to do. It isn't going to move.

In class, we have covered forces, the most important being gravity. Gravity is basically a force that attracts two bodies with a mass together. The connection I was able to make it that gravity is what attracts the planets to the sun. in Kepler's model, the planets orbit around the sun;however, never crash into it because of the normal force. As we learned in class, forces come in pairs, therefore, there has to be a force that goes along with the gravity that attracts the planets to the sun. In class, we also learned about motion. Newton’s three laws of motion apply to planetary motion because Newton's first law states that an object in constant motion will stay in motion unless a force acts upon it. Planets are currently orbiting around the sun at a constant motion;however, for instance, if a large asteroid the size of the moon were to collide with the earth, the force applied can throw the earth off its constant orbital path. Another connection I was able to make is based on the conservation of energy. Energy is the ability to do work. Therefore, orbiting planets conserve energy when they rotate due to the gravity pulling them towards the sun. Also, a satellite (the moon) does work due to the force that attracts it to the earth and causes it to rotate around the earth. In addition, I was able to make a connection with a term we learned called the central force. The central force is a force that points away from a fixed point where the magnitude of the force depends on the distance of the object to the fixed point. In the case of planetary motion, the central force can be found on the planet and the sun. The planet being the object, and the sun being the fixed…

Even though the moon is in space the earth’s gravity is still acting upon it, so a person could say that the moon is falling towards the earth. The reason that the moon doesn’t literally fall to the earth is because the moon is traveling at a constant rate of speed, which has the tendency to travel in a straight line. There is a correlation between the amount of force that the earth’s gravity has on the moon, due to its distance, and the moon’s tendency to travel in a straight line. The moon is constantly changing direction as it orbits the earth in an elliptical pattern, even so, it constantly has the tendency to travel in a straight line. The earth’s gravity pulls the moon towards it, causing it to not travel in a constant direction. Therefore, as the moon is trying to travel a single direction, it is constantly being pulled towards the earth. Since the earth is a sphere the moon does not get any closer or further away as it wants to travel in a straight line while being pulled towards the earth. The illustrations below show this…

Introduction: Every physics student has had a lot of experience with the force of gravity. Unfortunately, this experience is limited to the interaction between a very large object, the Earth, and much smaller objects that are very close to it. This is a very limited range of the possibilities. Software simulations of gravity allow physics students to explore a variety of other gravitational interactions between objects. These activities are designed to be used with the JAVA applet My Solar System that can be found on the Physics Education Technology (PhET) website at the University of Colorado at Boulder.…

Gravity is inevitable, no matter how many times you try jumping off a cliff you will fall towards the Earth and this is due to the Earth’s gravity lying in the center of the Earth. This causes objects to be pulled down to Earth. All objects have a center of gravity no matter how complicated the shape. Particles have more force below them than above them and this is why the Earth has one point that everything attracted to which is its center of gravity. When hot air rises through an atmosphere it also causes it to cool off the air. When one thinks of hot air rising they often neglect to think of it rising through the air. Warmer, lighter air moves through the heavier, cooler air because gravity pulls down on the cool air more strongly than the warm air. Although, most do not know all the important roles gravity plays, it is vital to life on…

Isaac Newton was born on Christmas day in 1642, in Lincolnshire, England. Newton attended Trinity College in 1661 and had both his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Arts by 1669. That same year he became the associate of the French Academy of Sciences. He was elected to Parilment, then appointed a warden, and finally, President of the Royal Society. Newton was a master of science and mathematics. He discovered calculus, before Leibniz' became popular. Perhaps Newton's most popular discovery, though, was gravity. As the story goes, Sir Isaac Newton was resting under a tree one day in his garden, when an apple fell from it and hit him on the head. Thus, he discovered gravity. The earth's gravitational pull pulls objects toward it. However, many people believe that this is only a myth created to simply illustrate Newton's discovery.

Along with Newton's many discoveries, the three laws of motion are famous. These include inertia, acceleration, and the idea that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Inertia is the idea that a body in motion will remain in motion, and a body at rest will remain at rest. For example, if I were to throw a baseball into the air, it would keep going until grasvity pulled it back down to earth. However, if I left it sitting on a table, it would lie there until some kind of force were to move it. If I were to push a skateboard across the floor with all of my might, the skateboard would accelerate more than if I gave it a light shove, simply because there was more force behind it. More force = more acceleration. If I were sitting on a swing and someone were to grab hold of the swing, pull it backwards, and release, I would move forward in the opposite direction. This demonstrates the idea that, for every action, there is an equal and opposite…

"Gravity is a force of attraction that exists between any two masses, any two bodies, any two particles. Gravity is not just the attraction between objects and the Earth. It is the attraction that exists between all objects". (NASA gravity 2000) Gravity is a very essential part of life on earth. We are in the exact position in the sun's gravitational field to keep us in orbit and keep life ongoing on our planet. Gravity is a downward force on any body of mass, the larger the mass of the body, the stronger the gravitational force. On earth the force is 9.8 N/Kg (Newton's per Kilogram) roughly, depending on where you are on earth.…
