One of the reasons that school uniforms should not be allowed in schools because they are not cost effective. One reason why they are not cost effective is because some families cannot afford multiple uniforms, plus the clothes that students wear outside of school (Pakhare 1). Unlike the students who can afford three, four, or five uniforms, the poorer students’ one uniform will look worn out and used by mid-semester compared to everyone else (Stainburn 1). It will be easier to pick out the kids who cannot afford much. The social boundaries that uniforms were trying to get rid of will still occur with or without them (Cruz 47). The second reason behind why school…

As the first amendment says, everyone has the right to express themselves freely which you cannot do if you are forced to wear a school uniform. (procon.org) Clothing choices are a crucial part of self expression and taking the choice away from someone can result in stifling students creativity. Overall, when kids do not have the choice on what to wear they are unable to express their individuality. Another reason school uniforms should not be required is that they do not have any positive effect on attendance, academics, preparedness, or exam results.…

Even though the argument on whether or not school uniforms takes away the student's right to self-expression will never end. Having school uniforms for the students to wear will eliminate bullies who pick on other students based on their clothing. Uniforms will eliminate the separation of social classes when that is mainly determined by what clothing a person wears. Last but not least, schools that require the students to wear school uniforms makes a formal look on the school. Uniforms may seem boring, but if they are able to help improve learning for students, they are a very reasonable…

It’s not like they are free; they cost money. Lots of money. Depending on how many kids there are, families could end up paying hundreds upon hundreds of dollars each year. According to an Examiner.com article, “Most parents responded that they spent $48 on pants for their children and that $30 was a ‘reasonable’ price for a T-shirt. … average American family… $300 per child for back-to-school clothing” (Buesing). These cost are adding up by the dollar. Struggling parents are having trouble with these. This can be very painful especially at the beginning of the school year in August when you have to go out and buy all of them. These uniforms are a descent size portion of what we pay per year for kids clothes in general. An LA Times article quoted, “Americans spent $1.1 billion on such uniforms last year. School uniforms now represent 5% of the $20.4 billion children’s wear industry” (Matthews). That’s $1.1 billion that we could use on something we actually need, like food or clothes for the homeless and the less fortunate. Us as Americans need to step on the break some and think about all this money we are…

In July 19 2009 Dr. Alan Hifler did a study on school uniforms and the effects they had on students. Uniforms have been common in public schools since 1994 and since then the dropout rate for schools that don’t have uniforms have increased. The requirement of school uniforms is a turnaround for students because students would benefit from this. Schools everywhere should bring them back. It is a great idea for schools to enforce a policy on schools because research shows that students can achieve success.…

Why would schools want to waste a lot of money for something that they do not need? They would not. They could spend the money on more useful things, not something that schools do not need. The schools could spend the money on new equipment and more things that they actually need. Also kids would rather have new math, science, history books, and more for their school, then some uniforms they do not need. The new stuff would actually make the kids happy that their school has some new equipment, and they would want to be eager to learn and pay attention more, so they could use the new things. So schools should not spend any money on school uniforms.…

School uniforms should be banned from every school in the United States of America. Over fourteen percent of schools are applying a dress code requiring students to wear school uniforms. Wearing school uniforms takes away your freedom to be told apart from the rest of your student body. The same color every day can get boring and depressing. Also there is an issue on cost of the uniforms. Many families shop at discount stores and if uniforms are required they mite not be able to afford them. School uniforms do not help with gangs nor bullying. School uniforms should be terminated.…
