EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The school is having problems in transferring grades from one grade sheet to another. Re-checking and re-encoding grades takes some time. The proponent attempts to design and develop an automated grading system which it has the same process and flow as the old system. However the proposed system has eliminated manual writing and the school staff can prevent time and energy consumption by using a system that guarantees accurate grade recording. It will also eliminate tons of papers used in computerized grading sheet, grading sheet per quarter, and summary sheet. The grade will directly encode in the system. Visual Foxpro is used as a tool for programming the functionalities of forms, buttons, menus, and encoding of grades.

Based on our research, the school of Golden Valley – Newland Group of Schools grades of each student, which is the traditional use when technology is not yet developed. Manual computation is very prompt to risk for any circumstances. It is time consuming in terms of recording grades, computation using of calculator. If some records are lost, they never retrieve it in case of unexpected calamity. Accuracy and security is not been so defined in their manual system.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1. The computerized grading system is more significant than the manual as follows: a. No using of paper and pencil.
b. Rush hour submission of grades.
c. A slow process of retrieving and releasing of records.
2. All the results from the gathered by teacher from the students grades has capable to enter efficiency and has a friendly used. 3. The teacher will lessen their time and effort for computing of grades.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
General Objectives
This study will help the Faculty and staffs of Golden Valley – Newland Group of Schools computing grades easy by the help of the systematized grading system for the students. The database system will make the grading and collection of grades for the high school students easy and fast. The grading system will store the data and grades of the student. This includes the name of the student, section, subjects, and grades

Specific Objectives
In order to meet the requirements of the general objective, the following specific objectives were formulated: 1. To develop an automated grading system that can provide information for the entire department; 2. To provide a better, easier and fastest way of computing grades; 3. To develop and accurate, reliable, and more upgraded grading system; and 4. To enhance the researchers’ knowledge and entrepreneurial skills as well in making this study.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
This study aim to develop a grading system for Golden Valley – Newland Group of Schools, the data base limits on the following fields and functions: * It limits to store the grades of every subject of the student (First Quarter, Second Quarter, Third Quarter, Fourth Quarter) * It limits only for the records of student grades.

* Only Authorized personnel will be allowed to use the system. (Dean and some authorized faculty/staff authorized by the dean to collect)

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This research study is vital and advantageous for the following: * Registrar and Accounting Office
With regards to the registrar's office the proposed system will help the school maintain the information and data of the students and they will not use the manual gathering of data anymore. The school will just check to the database for the records needed.

* The Teachers
The teachers will benefit...
