A clear description and analysis of the individual needs. For full marks the candidate will present a clear description and thorough analysis of the developmental needs of the individual and make a clear link to the relevance of identifying theories and perspectives to gain an understanding of the individual’s needs. 8

The candidate will identify psychological and sociological theory relevant to the needs of the individual. For full marks the student must clearly link these to the individual’s situation. 6

The candidate will write a clear step by step forward plan which will highlight the appropriateness of the activity and its aims. The forward plan will give detail of what, how, where and when and will include the timescale for the planning, development and evaluation. 4

The candidate will apply the Care Planning process by detailing resources required, sources of information, consultations with placement supervisor and service user/s in preparation for the activity. The candidate will identify and discuss issues surrounding risk assessment and safe practice. Discuss issues concerning confidentiality. Identify the appropriate social care model and method of practice to be used. Identify legislation, policies and procedures to protect children and/or vulnerable adults and legislation that promotes the rights and responsibilities of the service user and worker. The candidate will identify a contingency plan. 9

The candidate will justify the approach to be taken in the plan and the reasons for developing and adhering to realistic timescales. The Plan should be structured and referenced. 6

For full marks the candidate will show that the disciplines, theories and perspectives identified at the planning stage has a direct bearing on the activity. Poor links and connections between the activity and the disciplines and theories will be awarded lower marks. 8

The candidate will provide a detailed account of the activity. A high mark will be given when the account is related to the plan. A pass mark will be given when it is a good account of the activity but not related to the plan. An account of the activity that shows little coherence or organisation and does not relate to the plan will not be allocated a pass. 15

The candidate will give detail of health and safety requirements and adherence to policies. For full marks the candidate will identify the appropriateness of the materials and resources used in the activity. 5

For high marks the candidate will highlight, within their report, anti discriminatory practice and the adherence to National Care Standards relevant to the work setting. Justification for the approach adopted during the activity should demonstrate best practice. 5

Marks for written verification from placement supervisor that the activity was carried out as reported. 2
