1.       Google's current strategy is an amalgamation of a variety of services, in an even broader collection of locations. Its greatest generator of revenue is through its advertising service called AdSense, which conversely allows Google to gain access to an even broader network. Moreover, its program DoubleClick also enables Google to advertise in places that it does not own, and also by acquiring properties that serve as venues for its ads, such as Blogger and YouTube. Google has also pioneered new offerings that attract audiences for its ads, such as Gmail. However, Google's strategy is far richer than simply increasing new venues for the same kind of ads it shows on search results pages. Google understands that the reason its ads have garnered premium prices is because Google ads have both the general "googler's" and web surfer's attention. In other words, by highlighting the sites that command the most attention to themselves, Google can auction off its spots as a popular advertising site to the highest bidder. However, Google's ultimate weapon is its search history - similar to footprints, Google's search history records every single query and click, and ranks its search results by rank; it is exactly this relevancy that allows Google to practically dominate our global telecommunication network.
2. Google’s mission is encapsulated in the SEC filing statement “to organize the world’s information….and make it universally accessible and useful”. Google believes that the most effective, and ultimately the most profitable, way to accomplish its mission is to put its users first. Offering a high-quality user experience has led to strong growth. I believe that this mission statement is highly relevant and appealing to the general audience because it creates a "nirvana of simplicity", so to speak, in an ocean of information turmoil and complexity, and thus alleviating the amount of processing that its users encounter through its products.
