Courage
In our society, there are many evils; one of these would be the act of bullying. Bullying is a terrible hate crime that can cause some people to commit the unthinkable, and has become much too acceptable in today’s society.

Being bullied is a deplorable experience that is traumatizing enough to cause some people to commit suicide Between 15 and 25 children commit bullycide, the act of committing suicide because of constant bullying, every year. Bullying destroys a child’s self-esteem, and can cause permanent psychological damage. It’s revolting knowing that there are children that are made to feel so unworthy and rejected that they would take their own life.

Bullying is not taken seriously enough in today’s world. 85% of bullying is never reported. This is because kids don’t want to say anything, that witness the crime don’t want to be a snitch, and the victims are too scared. I knew a boy in 5th grade that dah failed a grade, and because of that he was bullied for years. I always felt so sorry for him, but I never had the courage to take a stand against it, in fact, in some cases I joined in with the taunting laughter. When we got to middle school, he was forgotten, although I still see him around the high school halls walking with his head down. I always think that I should go up and just apologize to him, for all the horrific days he was made to suffer through, but I haven’t yet. People, meaning students and teachers, need an awakening on just how serious this problem is.

Bullying, in all forms is a degrading, barbaric crime that can truly ruin a person. They are taunted until they are broken, and people, who claim to have humanity, do nothing about it. If people cannot at least love and respect each other how can we claim to have humanity?
