Everyone has that one thing that they love to do, and they all have the one best time at that event. Speaking from personal experience, my true passion is hunting and I could hunt all day, every day.
My favorite hunting adventure happened a few months ago in Brownwood, TX on September 27th, 2012. It was a hot summer day, my Dad and I had just bought a new hunting lease, so I was sitting in my tree stand looking to see what all was out there wildlife-wise. Thus far, it had been a very hot day, and after about 5 hours of sitting I got tired of sitting and seeing absolutely nothing. I got down out of my tree stand, and went walking around the lease that afternoon. Around the property, I could see a lot of evident that wild pigs were in this leased area.
I walked to where it looked like pigs were staying, not thinking one bit and i was hoping that I would see a pig bedded up just lying in the water but I didn’t. So I continued on through and then I stepped on a twig and it broke and something ran through the brush breaking trees and branches and everything. I was curious to see what it was, so I went in after it cause I thought It was a cow but come to find out it was a 400 lbs.’ boar hog. It was literally the scariest thing I have ever seen it was standing behind a brush pile and I could just see an outline of it and my heart stopped because at that moment and time I realized what 20 feet in front of me was.
I had both my bow and gun in my hands, so I dropped my bow and grabbed my gun. Then I fired a round off at the pig…..POW! I hit him the first time, yet with so much emotion and adrenaline, I fired off two more rounds … POW, POW! I missed him the last two times, but the first shot was the shot that put him down. The pig ran about 15 yards and dropped. I was so excited and scared at the same time that I was crying because I couldn’t believe what had just happened. My dad text me and asked me if I had shot.
