The Picture in My Mind
Today is a warm spring day in Krymsine Town, and all the gnomes were scrambling around doing their daily chores. Kran Tinsley and his family are working seamlessly to prepare the town hall for his farewell party.
Kran’s mother stands eerily over table after table arranging a variety of flowers into rainbow colored vases. As she works, she gazes upon her eldest son to see how he has grown. Saddened by his departure, she reflects back to his childhood with a smile. She knows she done everything she could to make him strong and able to set out on his own. As she sets the arranged flowers into the vases, she caresses each silky petal of the flowers to set them straight. In the garden by the town square, Kran’s youngest sister has a wicker basket lined with a

smooth cloth and is filling it with various fruits and vegetables. As she places then one by one in the basket comes alive with bright reds, tranquil blues, royal purples, oranges, greens, and yellows. She fills the basket and returns to the kitchen.
In the kitchen Kran’s grandmother and three other sisters are working on the feast. The sounds of the kitchen ring out as the youngest sister opens the door. The clambering of pots and pans, as the women move back in fourth in perfect synchronization. She carries the basket to the table and begins to separate the fruits and vegetables from the basket. One Woman grabs the green beans and starts to snap them apart as another one grabs the corn and removes the stocks. As the beans and corn are dropped into pans, of water you can hear the water splashing and sloshing. The women are rustling around, and mumbling back and forth about the up and coming festivities.
Outside, the men are walking towards the town’s entrance. As they move closer you can see that the men entering the town are Kran’s... [continues]
