The fast food industry is a prime operating system that demonstrates the importance of what and how OMM process’s work. By analyzing three restaurant and fast food companies and their operating procedures will easily demonstrate the concept behind a operations material management system (OMM). The three companies in which will be examined are a local Papa Murphy’s Take and Bake Pizza, McDonalds, and Pizza Hut. Papa Murphy’s Take and Bake Pizza takes pride in a clean and sociable environment for their and employees and especially customers. Each and every customer is greeted and helped in a fast timely manner. Most employees are part-time, with the exception of the store manager. Each employee is trained to produce every pizza found on the menu as well as the stores specialties. Papa Murphy’s stores can be ran either corporately or as a franchise, still making business essential for the store to succeed. A typical pizza is loaded with at least twice as much ingredient’s as any other frozen pizza competitor. Food costs is really the only financial issue that this business runs into, on busy holidays such as the Super Bowl and Valentines Day food costs usually double due to the increase of sells. This company’s input stages really spend a lot of time and dedication to provide the best quality ingredients for each pizza made by any store. Each store gets weekly inventory delivered by their meat and veggie producers. Papa Murphy’s output stages include their guaranteed fast, friendly customer service, and fun dedicated work environment. McDonalds really take pride in giving every one of their employee’s opportunity to move up in the restaurant business. Each crew member is given the chance to gain a management position or higher.
