Go karting
A go-kart is a small four-wheeled vehicle. Go-karts come in all shapes and forms, from motor less models to high-powered racing machines, some, like Super karts, being able to beat racing cars on long circuits.
Gravity racers, usually referred to as Soap Box Derby carts, are the simplest type of go-karts. They are propelled by gravity, with some races taking place down a single hill.
Amusement park go-karts can be powered by 4-stroke engines or electric motors, while racing karts use small 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines. Most of them are single seater but recreational models can sometimes accommodate a passenger.

Besides traditional kart racing, many commercial enterprises offer karts for rent, often called "recreational" or "concession" karts. The tracks can be indoor or outdoor. Karts are rented by sessions (10 to 15 minutes usually), they use sturdy chassis completed with dedicated bodywork providing driver safety. Most of these enterprises use an "Arrive and Drive" format which provide customers with all the safety gear (helmets, gloves and driver outfits) where necessary and allow them to show up any time to race at a reasonable price, without the hassle of owning one's own equipment and gear.
Outdoor tracks can offer low speed karts strictly for amusement (dedicated chassis equipped with low powered 4-stroke engines or electric motors), to faster, more powerful karts similar to a racing kart (powered by 4-stroke engines up to 15 hp and more rarely by 2-stroke engines) but designed to be more robust for rental use. Typically, these outdoor tracks may also be used for traditional kart races.
Indoor kart tracks can be found in many large cities in different parts of the world. These tracks are often located in refurbished factories or warehouses and are typically shorter than traditional outdoor tracks. Indoor karts are typically powered by a 4-stroke gasoline engine producing anywhere from 5 to 13 horsepower, or sometimes by an electric motor. Many tracks

    If you are wondering what exactly autocross is you are about to be in shock. Who would have thought that there was a sport where you could hop in your regular everyday car and drive, as fast as you can, while going around slolumns and sharp turns. Autocross is a sport done in a car like I said before any car, could be a car right off the street or a car fully built from scratch, even a go kart. You can either be a rider or a driver, even both. It only cost about 30 dollars a day/weekend depending on which company you are going through. Included in your day, you must work, drive, along with eating the complementary lunch provieded about half way through the day. Sometimes you work first then drive, other times you drive first then work. When working the track, you either stand at the start line and tell each car when their time will be starting and when they need to take off, or you stand on the track at a corner, and fix conesif they are knocked over or hit. Autocross is timed racing from the amount of seconds it takes you from start to the finish line, going between slolumns and sharp corners without hitting cones.     For our car we decided to make it a rubber band car since that would give it the most mechanical and potential energy. The rubber bands were to act as our potential energy since it stored all the energy as we pulled it back to wind it up. The whole car then would be running on mechanical energy. As the rubber bands unwind, it turns the rear axle of the car which then drives the rear tires to move the car. Miranda made sure to get the car to only go forward by figuring out the right amount over rubber bands and how tight to make them. Another way to not make sure the car went a different direction was to make sure the bands released and didn’t get twisted back up. If they did that would result in a car that went backwards. The tighter we got them the father the car would go. It turned out to be about 4 bands that were tied together. The car was able to go because of the force that was being built up with the bands as they tightened. The back wheels were also put on tight so the car went straight and the axle was secured with glue to the rotating piece of wood. The only force acting on the car were the bands and with the cement ground there was no friction, so the car had a smooth ride. The speed did slow down however after the initial take off but we wanted it to go slower as it approached the wall for the safety of the egg. Overall our project went really well.…

    Segway LLC is a company created by Dean Kamen in 2002 to manufacture and market the Segway Human Transporter. The SHT is a personal transport vehicle held upright by gyroscope technology. It is for use on and off-road, for recreation and commuting, by police departments and for government/military uses. Some of the SHT’s weaknesses include the $100 million development price tag and its high selling cost of over $4,500. A third weakness for the SHT is that Segway has not created enough physical locations where consumers can test drive and buy a machine. A final weakness is the lack of corporate/front office competence shown by Dean Kamen. The strengths of the SHT include its versatility of application. Segway has been shown to be valuable to police in patrolling duties and military with bomb disposal vehicles. The SHT also has shows strength in its financial backing. Mr. Kamen has been able to call on investors at any time to help financially when Segway has fallen short of its sales forecasts for the SHT. Segway has many opportunities on the horizon. If it makes some changes to its business/marketing strategy, it could still potentially realize great profits. It also has the opportunity to lower its prices to try and gain sales since it is already offered at a high price (incentive capability). The SHT has an opportunity as well to actualize the perception that it is a viable solution to the world’s congestion, energy and pollution problems. Finally, Segway has the opportunity to make changes to succeed in a market with no serious direct competitors besides some concepts that have been shown, like the concept Toyota presented at its latest tradeshow. Some threats to Segway are that the SHT is seen as a hazard to pedestrians on sidewalks and that it is too hard to operate.
