EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Water is nature's one of the most precious gift to mankind, so it's been a constant effort towards making best use of it. Hydropower stands among the best uses of water so as to cope with uneven distribution of water in space & time and at the same time providing clean energy. India is one of the countries, which is blessed with immense hydro potential, creating vast scope for harnessing this liquid gold. Indian National Hydropower Association (INHA) is making serious attempts towards promoting hydropower development in India and providing feasible solutions for challenges faced while harnessing this preferred energy source. Coming times shall be the era of HYDROPOWER development in India. GMR Group is a Bangalore headquartered global infrastructure major with interests in the Airports, Energy, Highways and Urban infrastructure. In addition, Agri-business is another focus area of the Group, with Sugar as its main product line. When the Government of India threw open the power sector to investments from the private sector, GMR Group took a strategic decision to venture out into this sector. In a span of more than a decade, the Group has established its credentials in the sector. GMR Energy Limited (in consortium with GMR Infrastructure Limited) bagged the 300 MW Alaknanda Hydro Electric Power Project in Uttarakhand through competitive bidding. This is the Group's first venture into the Hydro Power sector and also marks its strategic entry into North India. The Project Development Agreement was signed with the Govt. of Uttarakhand on October 22, 2005. The Delhi based office of GMR Energy Limited basically implements the policies formulated by the energy division in Bangalore. The Hydro division of the power segment is concentrated mainly at site i.e. Badrinath, Talong etc excluding rest of the employees who sit at the Delhi office. The strategic Business Development Department and Engineering Services Department is located at the Delhi office. All the recruitment activities for key Hydro positions in various departments are carried out from the Delhi office. The manpower needs are sent across from different departments by means of an Organogram i.e. a pictorial representation of the requirement of human capital in different projects.
