Gluten free continues on an uptrend powered by consumers with celiac disease or those seeking the health benefits of a gluten-free diet. Packaged breakfast baked goods have been introduced by specialty manufacturers that have been able to make bagels, English muffins and sweet breakfast products that taste good. Udi's, Kinnikinnick Foods, Food for Life, Glutino, Schar, and others are leading the gluten-free breakfast products charge into health food stores, grocers such as Whole Foods, and more frequently major supermarkets. Udi’s markets gluten-free bagels and sweet breakfast goods like muffins and cinnamon rolls. Kinnikinnick Foods recently launched soft bagels to complement its breads and buns. The bagels are available in plain, cinnamon raisin and blueberry, with the company claiming the blueberry variety is the only such flavor available in the gluten free market. Kinnikinnick also sells gluten-free donuts and muffins.Glutino, a sister company to Udi’s is manufacturer of a wide range of gluten-free products including bagels and English muffins. The company introduced toaster pastries in early 2013 noting it had been difficult to make gluten-free versions that taste good. The products are available in apple cinnamon and strawberry flavors.
