Globalization VS Culture
As we know globalization is the process of transformation of local or regional phenomena into global ones. It can be described as a process of blending or homogenization by which the people of the world are unified into a single society₁. But there is a specific type of globalization that I would like to write about: cultural globalization this mixes different cultures together and results in the loss of traditions from a specific region. It started because of free trade, foreign industries and migration. I agree that the globalization of culture is one more of globalizations negative effects. And it’s something that concerns everyone because it affects every little thing in our lives. We live in a country that doesn’t have a specific culture because people migrate from almost every part of the world like me. I guess I’m part of the globalization of culture because since I came to this country all this new cultures that I didn’t know before are affecting my life style. I think that globalization deteriorates the culture of a region or country, because new generations are changing their tradition for the latest trends of modernity.
Like it happened in Hong Kong in the essay “McDonald’s in Hong Kong” by James L. Watson points out and explain the phenomenal success of American-style fast food in Hong Kong and Guangzhou . McDonald’s is seven of the world’s ten busiest restaurants located in Hong Kong. It has been a very successful restaurant since its opening in 1975.
