Thesis Statement: Globalization has influenced Latin America since Colonization in the XVI Century. Nevertheless, this continuous process has not turned favorably for our country, especially our youth. The most noticeable effects of Globalization on Ecuadorian Youth are: Loss of National Identity, Acquisition of Negative Lifestyles and Morally questionable Ideologies.

INFLUENCE OF GLOBALIZATION ON ECUADORIAN YOUTH

First of all Globalization is a process that convert various habits and aspirations in global matters through economic, politic or entertainment matters. Ironically since Colonial expansion, foreign and developed cultures have influenced Latin America, and more specifically Ecuador, causing several changes in our youth ideologies. All throughout our nation’s Conquest, Colonization and Republic periods, Ecuadorian people including creoles, natives and Half-breeds have felt love for their nation and culture, giving their life in order to defend Ecuador. Currently this beloved Patriotism is almost lost, for the reason that Ecuadorian youngsters do not know their roots and where they belong to, identifying themselves with many other foreign traditions and not with our magnificent multiethnic and diversity of cultures.
