The actual trend of globalization has been driven by policies that have opened economies domestically and internationally in the years since the Second World War, and especially during the past two decades when many governments have adopted free-market economic systems. To take advantage of new opportunities in foreign markets, organizations have built foreign factories and modified their structure adopting an international industrial and financial business structure.
The other principal driving factor of the globalization has been technology. The progress made by information and communication technology gave to the consumers, investors and businesses a powerful tool for identifying new opportunities in foreign markets, an easy way to transfer assets or an easy and very efficient way to communicate with remote partners.
