I. Abstract
My company, based in Hong Kong, sells fashionable lady shoes destined for the Asian market (40%), European market (30%), and North-American market (30%). I am now deciding to locate a production plant in another country outside Hong Kong. The two countries under the review are Thailand and the United Kingdom (UK).
In the report, I will first provide a brief introduction to the product and production. Then I will use a comparison approach to compare Thailand and the UK on their various business environments, namely (1) economic factors, (2) governments’ taxes and policies, (3) labor factors, (4) natural factors, (5) legal factors, (6) regional trade agreements, (7) cultural factors and (8) political risks, based on the facts from reliable sources. After finishing all comparisons, I will select and weigh the 10 most important criteria in a weighted table for the two countries. Score, ranging from 1 to 4 with 4 being the maximum, and weighted score for each criterion will also be given. Finally, I will calculate the average score and the total weighted score for the two countries respectively.
In conclusion, I will locate the production plant in Thailand as Thailand has both higher average score and weighted score than the UK, derived from the results of the weighted table. Besides, I will consider and respond positively to some ethical issues in Thailand.
Appendices will also be provided for the purposes of acknowledgement and reference at the end of the report.
