Giving Compliment
Concept: Giving compliment

Concept defined: compliment is a message of praise, flattery or congratulations
(be real and be honest; compliment in moderation; be personal in your own feelings)

Description of the circumstance: On Sunday, I went to Macy’s at Micronesia Mall in Dededo to buy me a pair of shoes. At the Macy’s shoe department, some shoes were on the grown and messy. I was walking around the clearance sales rack I saw this lady she was trying some pumps shoes. I decided that this might be a good time to try new communication skills- giving compliment.

Example of how the skill was used: I said to the lady, “ that looks pretty on you” she smiled and she response “ its kind of pricey but I like them”. She was wearing the pair of the shoes walking around the rack. I said again” you should get that shoes it nice on you and matches with your dress”.

Describe the perceived effect: She responds with smile when I said it looks pretty and nice. She put on the shoes again and walk around the rack its like she was having a fashion show. Her mood changes and aggressive movements seemed to encourage her to buy the shoes.

Analysis of the reason the skill resulted in the effect: I think what the lady needed was someone to encourage her a good great compliment before buying the shoes. My insight is that giving a compliment at the right time can changes person’s attitude and enhances their self worth by making them feel good and well, it touches the core of that person is.
