Girl Problems
When I met Brooke I was a sophomore in high school. I was with my friend, Jon, at his girlfriend's house when I tall skinny girl walked in the living room. She immediately caught my eye. She was a friend of Devon, Jon's girlfriend. Brooke told me a few years after we met that Darian, Devon's sister, and her did her make up just to catch my attention. Darian and her came in the room and started to talk with Jon and I. She introduced herself and told me a little bit about her like how old she was and that she was born in Texas. Jon and his girlfriend were kissing and touching so I told them to go in the room because I could sense it was making her uncomfortable. This was the first time Brooke and I got to hang out. After I left I began thinking about her almost everyday after that; she had left an imprint. I knew that there was something special about Brooke, I just didn't know it yet. Brooke fit all the standards I had for a girl plus some. She was skinny. She had beautiful hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair. She was athletic and loved out door adventures. Her smile was like a beautiful ocean sunset and her laugh would make you laugh even more. She was shy but outgoing with her friends. She was extremely book smart. She got straight A's in high school. Most importantly, she loved and feared God. A girl that I will marry must love God more than she loves me or anything else. I just had a strong feeling when we first met and did not want to ignore it. She fit all my standards and turned out to be the most flattering young lady I had ever come in to contact with. Throughout the rest of high school we kept in contact. I took her on our first date during the summer of 2009. We got frozen yogurt and watched airplanes land at the airport. I explained to her how my grandmother used to take my brothers and me there. The spot had many memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. She had never been there but loved. It was different than the other dates she had

Following his twiching, my eyes landed on Gwen who had just walked in--her "usual" bubbly expression radiating on her face. She stopped in front of Candace and whispered something in her ear. She looked up and her eyes locked on me. I felt like a deer in front of headlights and for an split second I saw her eyes dull. Leading me to believe I didn't see what I just saw, she smiled at me.…

We bonded right away. It was refreshing to meet someone who actually wanted to talk with us. Jaylin was going into first grade and Kit was going to be a senior in high school. Kit wanted to be a nurse. The more I got to know her, the more I felt so lucky to have the opportunities I have. If I wanted to be a nurse, I would have a much easier time than her. Meeting Jaylin and Kit really opened my eyes to see how much harder they had it in Somerville. They just didn’t have the money to do the things they wanted to or even fix the mold problem in their…

I thought it was weird that she was talking to me because she seemed so popular and before, my observations led me to believe that she was entitled and only cared about how she looked. I felt somewhat bad because I did not know her personally but I didn't lose any sleep over the thought of judging her. I returned to my seat to packed up all my pencils and papers to head to a tutorial class. But throughout the eight-hour school day, I realized we had classes right next to each other which was odd because you usually recognize the people that you are surrounded by, we were after all 2 months away from graduating. It was exceptionally hot on that Tuesday evening and I decided to stand outside of my class early, to avoid the boiling sun that was trying to turn me 10 shades tanner. As I walked into the cool 60-degree air conditioned historically painted history hall, it seemed that Becca and I had similar thoughts because she was standing about 10 feet away from me in front of her history class. She approached me and asked "What kind of art style do you like" I replied with "contemporary, abstract," and we just hit it off, I thought it was sweet that she started a conversation with me. Since that first Hi and art…
