Suicidal Ideation: Common medical term for thoughts about suicide, which may be as detailed and a formed plan, without the suicide act itself. Althought most people who undergo suicidal ideation do not actually commit suicide, some go on to make suicide attempts. The range of suicidal ideation ranges from fleeting to detailed planning, role playing, and unsuccessful attempts which may be purposefully constructed to fail or be discovered, or may be fully intended to succeed.(Page 399, Chapter 11)
Borderline Personality Disorder: Characterized by depth and variability of moods. Typically involves unusual levels of instability as well as a loss of the sense of self.
Depersonalization: Is subjective experience of unreality in ones sense of self. Subject may feel like they are watching themself, while having no control over the situation (Pages 347-348, 364, 367, Chapter 10)
Denial: Occurs when people refuse to admit that something unpleasant is happening such as mistreatment by a partner; that they have a problem such as drinking to much; or that they are feeling a forbidden emotion, such as anger. It is a defense mechanism postulated by Sigmond Freud(Pages 44, 69 Chapter 2)
