Computer A computer is an electronic device that is designed to work with information. The computer takes information in, processes that information, and then displays the results. In this way, a computer is similar to a calculator, except that even the smallest computer is much more versatile than the most powerful calculator. Computers operate at amazingly fast speeds, with a typical computer processing millions of calculations every second.

Personal Computer A personal computer is a small, relatively inexpensive computer that is designed for use by one person at a time. It allows you to perform personal tasks such as creating documents, communicating with other people, and playing games. The abbreviation PC is most often used to refer to computers that run the Microsoft Windows operating system, as well as to differentiate them from Macintosh computers.

A computer is an electronic machine that processes information—in other words, an information processor: it takes in raw information (or data) at one end, stores it until it 's ready to work on it, chews and crunches it for a bit, then spits out the results at the other end. This process is BIOS (basic input and output system). Taking in information is called input, storing information is better known as memory (or storage), chewing information is also known as processing, and spitting out results is called output.
