It heightens the chance of being chosen when you submit your name, lowering the chance of people whose name went in only once. 2. It was good because she put her name in 20 times. The other people put in their names at least twice, so Katniss has a higher theoretical probability of being selected. 3. 16 4. The odds are the chance of one of them surviving the games (23/24). The probability of those districts winning the game is 3 out of 12. 6. Career Tributes are tributes who have been trained their whole life in case they were chosen for the games. 7. The 2011 dystopian thriller, The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, cleverly displays the effects of totalitarian rule through the colours and set design. This being displayed through the important places of the film, reinforcing the message that it is too dangerous to allow one individual too much power as well as the lack of power against the hierarchy. One important place in the film is the ever-evolving arena where the games take place. Here, the tributes have been ‘wagered’ from their districts to fight to the death. To fabricate the arena, the Capitol’s ‘Game Makers’ have used futuristic technology.…

As the speeding train pulls into the Capitol’s station, the tributes are greeted by cheering, waving citizens, treating the tributes likes adored sports players instead of the victims they are. The games, which through this scene can be inferred, that the Capitol has come to practically worship. Each tribute was another body to speculate on and root for during the televised games. Because of the Capitol’s love and enjoyment of the Hunger Games their senses were clouded, and they were unable to see the dismal experience the tributes underwent. The Hunger games was an entertaining, television show for the Capitol, not a death match amongst children. While the Capitol looks upon the tributes with adoration, the viewer of the movie develops a twisted…

Consistently, each region must supply, through a lottery procedure, two "tributes" (both matured 12 to 18, one male, one female), who are compelled to battle to the demise in a huge open air field until the point when one victor remains. The desire is that the Hunger Games be dealt with as an exhibition, an awesome wellspring of excitement that all residents are obliged to take after as gathering of people. The Games represent how altogether Panem residents are helpless before the Capitol, since it keeps them quelled by making them complicit in the abominations as gathering of people.…

Are the odds ever in your favor? In the movie the “Hunger Games” the odds don't seem to be in district twelve’s favor. Katniss Everdeen, whose only pronounced skill is being good with a bow and arrow, volunteers in place of her younger sister Primrose to fight in the 74th annual Hunger Games. Both her and Peeta Mellark, who is just a boy who works in in a bakery, are the two contestants from district 12 to fight in the games which are hosted by the Capitol of Panem. In the end of the games, both Katniss and Peeta win after many many trials. When they win President Snow is very angry at Katniss because there is only supposed to be one winner. This movie is a great example of a Gothic literature. Gothic literature is a genre that combines fiction, horror, death, and romance. The five elements that need to be…

Everyone has heard the saying that winning is not everything. In Suzanne Collin’s bestseller, The Hunger Games, it redefines that saying. In the novel, North America has been through some apocalyptic disasters and is known as Panam with twelve districts that are ruled by the Capitol. Each year the Hunger Games are held as a reminder of the bleak past and that the Capitol is still in control of the citizens of Panam. One girl and one boy between the ages twelve and eighteen from each district are drafted to fight to death in the Hunger Games. The last one standing is the winner and will bring home the fame and fortune for their district. Each kid must attend “The Reaping”, which is the ceremony where the names are drawn for the person to be in the Hunger Games. Primrose Everdeen is only twelve years old and this is her first year attending “The Reaping”. Her sister, Katniss Everdeen, assures her that she’s not going to be picked because her name is only in the drawing once. Surprisingly, the odds were not in Primrose’s favor. Katniss cannot stand to see her little sister go and fend for herself in the Hunger Games, so she does the unthinkable and volunteers to take Primrose’s place as tribute, a person who competes in the Hunger Games. Peeta Mellark is the male tribute chosen to represent District 12 in the Hunger Games. Peeta has had an everlasting crush on Katniss since the day they met. Will Katniss have mutual feelings with Peeta during this crucial time of life or death or will the love be a distraction while it boils in the heart? Also, will the beloved characters perish or will they prevail in the Hunger Games? The Hunger Games is a compelling young adult novel that will surely appeal to many readers that admire action and adventure with a hint of romance.…
