Which president is the only U.S. President to have a state named after him and is the only President ever unanimously elected? George Washington. General George Washington was known for leading the Continental Army to freedom from Great Britain. He became the first president of the United States of America and served from 1789 until 1797. President Washington is also famous for having false teeth made of wood. What most people don’t know is that his teeth were really made of ivory, silver, and even cow teeth!
George Washington made very important contributions to America. One contribution is that he was a great leader and risked his life fighting in the French and Indian War as well as led our men to victory in the American Revolution. He also gave his time serving as our first President and was the first to shape our new country. George Washington was a supporter of the Bill of Rights which ensured that the liberties of the common man could not be taken away by the Constitution. He also created the Purple Heart which is the highest military honor.
George Washington was known for many characteristics. For one, he was very tall for men in the 1700’s as he stood 6 feet tall. Washington was smart, strong both mentally and physically, and was eager to bring freedom and independence to the nation he loved. George Washington is also known for being very brave in battle.
I admire George Washington for his leadership and the fact that he cared so much about America. He was a brave freedom fighter who never gave up. I owe him respect because our country wouldn’t be the same without him.

Aside being the first President of our great nation, he was an Entrepreneur he worked as an Architect, a whiskey maker, a spymaster, and a farmer an Englishman once referred to him as the “Foremost Farmer” of America.
