Prescription pill abuse is a growing problem in the United States. Hundreds of thousands have lost their lives and loved ones due to abuse of benzodiazepines such as xanax and narcotic pain relievers such as lortab’s. The people that take these pills start off needing pain pills for just that pain or anxiety but because of the addictive tendencies of these pills users typically become addicted to the high receive from these pills. The type’s people that are addicted to these pills aren’t just the scum of the united stated but respected people as well. People such as: Anna Nicole Smith, William Barnsley Allen, Greg Giraldo, James Owen Sullivan aka The Rev, Diana Churchill, Brittany Murphy, Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM. These people inspired others through their music their comedy, and their acting. Role models to American youth tragically taken from this earth due to the abuse of these drugs that was supposed to help them. Less we not forget the families that are destroyed because of these addictions. These pills are addictive and they knowingly being prescribed and kills thousands.
There are many doctors throughout the United States that have cash - only clinics. Cash-only medicine is becoming an increasingly attractive option for doctors frustrated by red tape and for the 43 million Americans who lack health insurance. Places like these enable drug addicts to sink further into their addiction. It’s real easy to simply pay the forty dollars to see a doctor and get a prescription rather than going to and emergency room and have to go through the paperwork for insurance. Those who have succumbed to their addiction have manipulated clinics and hospitals to fuel their addiction. By hoping from place to place addicts can go “pill shopping,” where they tell a doctor false pains to get the pill of choice.
