Jenna’s Downfall
I feel Jenna has made a poor decision in walking out of the class and not returning. Jenna is a college student making poor decisions in obtaining her career goals to become a teacher. Jenna states that she wants to be a teacher. Jenna has to understand college is based on real world situations. An example of this is absenteeism. You can not be absent to work all the time or walk out on a job with out suffering the consequences, being fired or reprimanded for, example. A teacher could not continuously be absent in her class, nor can a teacher just walk out on her job and not return without a word. Her career as a teacher would be short lived.
Jenna has been trying to go to school for the last two years. She should have given some thought on situations and problems that may arise during her pursuit in becoming a teacher. Jenna should have made better plans to assist her babysitting needs or any other situations that may affect her attendance, for example a back up plan if Jenna’s sister could not watch her children.
Jenna wanted to be in the field of education she should have had more patience and listened to her professor’s options. Her professor gave her a warning and offered help. The professor also gave her the opportunity to help her get back on track. One day Jenna as a teacher may have to make the same decisions that her professor made. In that perspective she should honor her professor’s rules in the classroom, specifically regarding the attendance policy that was gone over in the first week of class.
Jenna needs to reevaluate what her intentions are for her future in becoming a teacher. College is an environment that prepares you for the real world situations that may arise.
