General Mills is one of the companies that are listed in the Fortune 500. The company’s primary vehicle of profit is the food industry. “General Mills is one of the leading breakfast cereal companies in the world, with such well-known brands as Cheerios, and Wheaties stocking the shelves of supermarkets everywhere. In addition, the company includes some of the best names in other food lines such as Gold Medal flour, and Bisquick.” (Funding Universe, n.d., p. 1) “The company was incorporated in 1928, but its origins go back to 1866, when Cadwallader Washburn opened the first flour mill in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His business, originally called the Minneapolis Milling Company, competed with local miller C.A. Pillsbury.
