Garnier built a strong relationship with its consumers in hair care field especially in the 1980s with Ultra DOUX -symbol of softness and nature for all generations- and then with Fructis in the 1990s.

As a true skin care expert, Garnier also offers a large selection of products, from face care to sun care. The Garnier Story
Garnier’s history of innovation began with its first product. In 1904, Alfred Garnier began marketing a hair tonic when most people of the time still used soap to wash their hair. In 1936, his company, Laboratories Garnier, introduced some of the first products aimed at protecting skin from sun damage. The company went on to produce the first permanent hair color in 1960. In 1965, L’Oreal purchased Laboratories Garnier and the product line has continued its mission of producing beauty products with natural ingredients under the product lines Fructis, Nutrisse, and Nutritionist.

The Science
Garnier’s products are developed and extensively tested by a team of over 3,000 researchers and scientists in 13 research and evaluation centers around the world. The company’s research frequently gains notoriety in scientific journals.

All Garnier products go through four stages of testing under L’Oreal before undergoing additional safety and effectiveness testing by Garnier. Garnier conducts both clinical and consumer satisfaction studies before releasing a product and conducts customer satisfaction surveys afterward. The company values the opinion of its customers and continually improves and updates products based on consumer feedback.

Pseudoscience is designed to trick individuals into believing claims that are not actually scientifically proven. Corporations make claims that their products can do more than they are actually capable of to boost sales. In the case of Garnier, they trick the uneducated consumer into buying a product that will not actually do anything but condition their hair rather than promoting getting a routine haircut which would actually be more cost efficient and improve the hair health of the consumer. Garnier can fix these claims with simple rephrasing, which would promote the actual uses for the product. The product can be promoted to help improve appearance and to help prevent damage.…
