Gap’s Compensation and Benefits Programs

Gap Inc is a specialty retailer offering clothing, accessories and personal care products for men, women, children and babies. The company employs more than 134,000 employees and about 3,100 company-operated stores in United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, and Japan. (New York Times). Gap wants to provide a comprehensive benefits package for their employees that are full and part time. Competitive advantage describes a company’s success. (Martocchio 10).   The employee benefits consist of health & wellness, peace of mind, a helping hand, preparing for the future, individual and career development, time off, family time, and giving back. The employees have a variety of choices to choose a benefit plan that will fit them as well as their spouses, domestic partners, children and other dependents.
Health care benefits are offered to employees and there families to choose a plan to help meet their needs without the risk of incurring medical expense. Gap offer a competitive health care benefits to have, and keep, satisfied employees. Some of the benefits that are offered to full time employees are medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance and private counseling resources. National Health Access is an unsubsidized health care option that is available to all part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees. The full-time employees are offered a Health Reimbursement Accounts “which is designed to encourage our employees to take an active role in their health and wellness. HRA accounts are funded by the company, with employees having the ability to roll over unused account dollars from year to year.”(Gap Contracts).
